Project R.O.S.E. (Recycled Oil Saves Energy) has served as Alabama's volunteer used motor oil public education and outreach program since 1977. Each spring, the program hosts "Run for the Roses," a 5K race to raise awareness regarding the improper disposal of used motor oil and to provide solutions by using the proceeds to purchase used motor oil collection tanks for rural areas of the state lacking collection resources.
It was a beautiful, cool morning for the Eighth Annual "Run for the Roses" 5K Race
and One Mile Rosebud Fun Run, held February 26, 2005. This year marked
the largest turnout in the history of "Run for the Roses," with 141 5K
finishers (up from 110 last year) and 18 One Mile Rosebud Finishers (up
from 6 last year).
Finishers and Times:
This year marked the seventh year that Run for the Roses has been a certified race, the first year
in using the "Run for Kid's Sake" Course, and our fifth on the Tuscaloosa
Track Club Grand Prix Series. We appreciate and thank our sponsors,
runners, volunteers and the Tuscaloosa Track Club for helping to make
"Run for the Roses" and the One Mile Rosebud Fun Run a success. We look
forward to your participation next Spring!
