Used motor oil recycling encouraged

Project R.O.S.E. (Recycled Oil Saves Energy), Alabama's motor oil education outreach program located in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, has several locations in Cherokee County.

Used motor oil is insoluble, slow to degrade and can contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to plants, animals and humans alike. Used motor oil may be taken to Cedar Bluff Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts in Centre and Garrett Tire Service in Leesburg.

Used motor oil should never be used for dust abatement, to kill weeds, or mixed with other substances. For more information, contact Project R.O.S.E. toll free 1-800-452-5901.

Note from Project R.O.S.E.: As a result of seeing this article, Ms. Ruth Garner called our office to arrange the pickup of over 125 gallons of used motor oil that was being stored on her property 10 miles west of Centre, AL)
